Gender equality is a key component of our strategy in funding beneficiaries. Since the inception of the AITF, 30% of our funding has been allocated to women-owned businesses. This achievement has been made possible through partnerships with organisations like the Women Economic Assembly (WECONA). WECONA, launched by President Cyril Ramaphosa in October 2021, brings together the private sector, civil society, women’s organisations, business leaders and government to promote the participation of women-owned businesses in key sectors of the economy, including the automotive industry.
